Abstract
Kazakhstan is one of the most multi-ethnic countries in the world. In our country there are more than 100
ethnic groups, each of which has characteristic features of spiritual and material culture. It should be remembered
that during the existence of the Soviet state, the term «diaspora» was practically not used and there
were almost no scientific developments in this direction. Only after the collapse of the USSR the phenomenon
of the diaspora began to attract the close attention of historians, ethnographers, politicians, representatives
of various religious faiths. The article is devoted to the study of the history of the Turkish Diaspora in
the Republic of Kazakhstan, the basic historical stages of its formation and development, as well as to the key
aspects of national policy in Soviet and modern times. In addition, the historiographical analysis of the problem
studied is conducted. The article discusses the activities of the Turkish national cultural center and the
role of the Assembly of people of Kazakhstan.
