Language Humour in Agata Passent’s Articles

Abstract

The article presents language humour shown in articles of Agata Passent. This humour is based on: vocabulary (the author uses here periphrases, ambiguity of words or neologisms), phrasal expressions (language humour is achieved by modifications of phrasal expressions), stylisation (A.Passent uses different genres and styles like: sport comentatory, journalist reporting, TV news, weather forecast, opinion poll) and syntax (achieved by syntax flow, word omission in an expression or sentences without subject –slogans).
