Англия и Ирландия: XIX–XXI вв. Историография международного взаимодействия

Abstract

In the article the issues of the historiography of the international interaction of England and Ireland over the past two centuries are examined. Anglo-Irish relations are extremely complex and unique. The historical fates of England and Ireland have been intertwined for hundreds of years. The XIX and early XX centuries in the context of Anglo-Irish relations is the time of colonial dependence, the growth of the national identity of the Irish, the struggle for national liberation, which took various forms. The author’s focus is on the historiography analysis of Anglo-Irish relations over the course of a new and recent era, which will enable to identify debatable issues and unsolved problems and give a new interpretation to the research. The problems of historiography of serious social, national, and religious-political contradictions that had a significant impact on the development of Great Britain, Anglo-Irish relations, attracted the attention of political and social circles in many countries of the world were comprehensively studied by the author. The author argues the thesis that the active development of research on Anglo-Irish international cooperation makes it imperative to rethink the development of historiography, to track changes in approaches to issues of Western European integration, the nature and perspectives within European relations, their impact on European security and integration. The author concludes that the scientific study of the history and present Anglo-Irish relations is aggravated by national, religious and political predilections, that the prospects for solving the «Irish issue», the historical fate of a united Ireland («islands-states»), the policy of Great Britain, Ireland, European Union in new realities require additional research.
